How good are you at letting yourself reach new heights? Do you practice self-love? Or do you, like all of us do, sometimes, revert to self-sabotaging behaviors just when you’re on the brink of achieving something amazing?

If personal growth is high on your list of goals for 2021, then learning ways to let yourself bloom this spring definitely deserves a spot on your master to-do list.

Here are four easy things you can start doing right now. They will, inevitably, help you be happier, healthier, and more likely to reach your full potential.

Learn to Listen

Somewhere, while becoming obsessed with attaining #goals, professional or personal, we have collectively managed to lose track of what really matters. Ambition, the need for external validation, and societal pressure have forced us to start prioritizing the wrong things.

In reality, we should have learned how to accept individuality instead.

But the good thing is, it is never too late to turn over a new leaf. And, taking the first steps can be quite easy. All you need to do is take a pause and listen.

When faced with a decision, stop for a moment. What is your intuition telling you? Are there any positive or negative feelings you’re detecting? How do you feel physically – ready for a challenge or in need of a break?

Listening to the signals from your body and mind might be one of the essential skills you learn this spring. Besides, it could help you identify and attain your goals by teaching you how to prioritize the things that bring joy.

Do Whatever Makes You Bloom

“A flower blossoms for its own joy.” ― Oscar Wilde

How often do you treat yourself? Perhaps it’s cooking your favorite comfort foods. Or, it could be taking a day off work to do nothing but chill. Either way, finding ways to make yourself happy is a big step towards reaching your best self.

Of course, that doesn’t mean allowing procrastination. Or giving up on something just because it takes hard work. (Yes, procrastination is a form of self-sabotage. As well as a signal to stop for some introspection.) Instead, it means finding small or big ways to boost your mood, to find some inspiration, or motivate yourself to go the extra mile.

If you take up any projects, hobbies, or long-term plans this year, make sure that they spark joy. Or, if there’s something you simply have to do, make your best attempt to find that joy in it. It can be anything: the happiness of a loved one, a positive career outcome in the future, or the opportunity to learn something new.

Mens Sana In Corpore Sano

I have always been a strong proponent of the fact that physical and emotional wellbeing leads to prosperity and happiness. Even though I need constant reminding to actually practice self-care.

However, I know that if I want to set myself up for success, I need to take great care of my body and mind. For me, this means:

Waking up early, which I usually struggle with, so that I can do my 20-minute morning yoga

Sticking to a (mainly) healthy and balanced diet so that I don’t pay the price for overindulging in sugar or simple carbs

Giving myself at least one day off per week because I’m prone to overworking myself

Keeping to all my doctors and therapist appointments because prevention and maintenance beat all cures

I do all this (which is not that much, to be honest) because I know it is the key to being in prime physical and emotional shape to take on challenges. And, of course, being challenged is the only way to move forward.

Shift Your Mindset

Finally, there is one last thing you can do to ensure you bloom this spring (or any other time, for that matter). It is to do away with high expectations, self-criticism, perfectionist tendencies, and just let yourself do the best you can at that given moment.

While it may not seem like it, failure is a part of everyone’s life – be it personal or professional. But, instead of berating yourself for not living up to someone else’s (or your own) expectations, learn to accept failure as a learning opportunity.

Maybe that missed deadline can teach you how to better organize your workflow next time. Or, a failed recipe might point out the cooking skills you still need to perfect. Even something as difficult as the end of a relationship can be the event that helps us turn over a new leaf and teach us how to take better care of our needs next time.

Final Thoughts

Everyone has a different path in life. Some people are born with a positive mindset and a happy-go-lucky outlook on life. Others, on the other hand, sweat the small stuff, expecting themselves to consistently do better.

But the thing is, absolutely anyone can bloom, no matter what life stage they’re at. The only requirement? Self-belief and a good dose of self-care. And, fortunately for all of us, it’s never too late to learn either of those.

Freedom is a concept we often take for granted in the western world. We believe we are free – and in many ways, we certainly are. However, how often do we consider our personal freedom? How much are we holding ourselves back and preventing ourselves from becoming the best versions of the humans we are? Let’s explore what it is we can do to set ourselves free in 2021.

Freedom Allows You to Know Who You Are

The first step in achieving personal freedom is to know who we truly are. And this is not a realization that comes easily or quickly or that is ever set in stone. We fluctuate, we change and grow, and we become different (hopefully better) people as we age. However, some things hold practically from cradle to grave.

These are the realizations about yourself you want to focus on. Who are you deep down? Are you a cheerful person, or more of a melancholy person? Do you prefer to spend time alone, or in a group of people?

There’s no right or wrong answer. Simply knowing who you really are will help you anticipate your own reactions and be able to predict what you want and don’t want in your life.

Related: Self-Love: Be Kind to Yourself

Know What You Believe in

Coming to terms with your personal set of values is another step on the road to freedom. This might be a bit of a bumpier road, but with a whole lot of honesty and some soul searching, you can get through to the other side.

You may find that your core values do not correspond to those of your family or community. However, as long as they don’t violate basic commandments and don’t go against the rest of humanity, you should allow yourself the freedom to embrace them.

Set Your Goals

Knowing where you want to go in life is sometimes the best way to acquire a sense of freedom. Granted, there is also a school of thought that believes we don’t need to keep chasing goals to feel happy or fulfilled in our lives. And that is true, to an extent.

Your goal may be to be a happy person. You don’t have to set a goal that involves an achievement the outside world would applaud. Something as simple as working on your bad sleep habits can be a goal worth pursuing.

Of course, you may be the kind of person who thrives on attainable, external goals. In that case, all you really have to do is align them with the person you are and the values you hold dear.

Learn to Notice When You Are Not Being Authentic

Even the most composed and centered individuals can act in ways that are not authentic to their true selves. The outside world will try to impose itself on you practically at all times. Reacting in an inauthentic way is only to be expected, and it’s nothing to be held against you.

Instead of feeling upset with yourself when this happens, teach yourself to recognize when you are being inauthentic. When you notice this has happened, take some time to analyze your reactions, thoughts, and behavior after the event, and figure out what has triggered you.

That way, you will be able to notice the changes in yourself sooner the next time you find yourself in a similar situation, and you’ll be able to react with more authenticity.

Abandon Perfection

The notion that perfection is attainable and something to aspire to is probably one of the most ingrained beliefs that are preventing you from setting yourself truly free.

Our societies are often obsessed with it. And yet, the concept itself should be enough to signal to us that it’s not actually a worthy goal.

Let go of your quest for perfection, and devote yourself to a quest for freedom and authenticity instead. That quest will not only be attainable but also lead to fulfillment, unlike your forlorn attempt at being perfect.

Final Thoughts

Setting yourself truly free will not happen in 2021 – especially if you’re only now setting off on this journey.

Patience, perseverance, and a broader perspective will help you get there. So instead of expecting life to change overnight, invest in the small steps that lead to victory.

Masturbation is a taboo topic amongst people, but it shouldn’t be. There are so many benefits of masturbation- It’s one of the best things for our mental, physical, and spiritual health. Still, we’re somehow taught that pleasuring ourselves is wrong, and as a result, we either stay silent on the topic or don’t explore our own bodies at all. But masturbation is empowering. It helps us discover our inner power and helps us better communicate to others what feels good to us. Besides feeling amazing, normalizing self-pleasure has a whole range of benefits for our bodies. Here are all reasons why you should get to know yourself more intimately.

Masturbation Reduces Stress

When you can’t get out of your head, it’s time to turn to the body. Connecting to self-pleasure can be a self-soothing form of mindfulness to helps you feel present. Masturbation also lowers the stress hormone known as cortisol but boosts the production of endorphins, which flood us with feel-good emotions. The next time you take a bath and do a face mask, add touching yourself to the self-care routine.

Improves Sleep

The final state of the sexual response cycle is called resolution, and it causes fatigue. It’s no wonder why: the body has gone through a series of muscle spasms, contractions, and a rush of blood. It also spikes our heart rate, breath, and blood pleasure. That’s why, after a good romp, many of us are ready for a nap.

Strengthen Muscles

As we get older, our pelvic and anal areas get weaker. To strengthen those muscles, you can do your Kegel exercises, but the most powerful natural exercise is built within us: the orgasm. The natural contractions of an orgasm are a workout for your pelvic floor itself, so take out your favorite toy and get to that workout!

Improves Libido

Sex drive can ebb and flow – especially if you’re in a long-term relationship or marriage. But masturbation can help you rediscover your desire for your partner. When we masturbate, we’re turning on those pleasure pathways that give way to a sexual appetite. Seeking pleasure from within is the best way to gain a new perspective.

Communicate Better with Partners

When you know what you want, it’s easier to convey those desires to a partner. Sometimes, figuring out what you want in the moment can be tough. Especially when you’re with someone else. But if you’ve practiced yourself on your own, you know exactly how much pressure and speed to apply, along with where your most tender erogenous zones are.

Improve Body Image & Self Esteem

Let’s be real: masturbation is a form of self-love. Loving your body from the outside can teach you to love yourself from the inside. After an orgasm, we feel like we can take on the world. We also feel more comfortable and connected to our own bodies, in a world that encourages us to detach and reach for unrealistic body standards. Connect to your sexuality and discover your inner beauty.

Reduce Cramps

If you’re prone to period or PMS related cramps, taking out the vibrator or using your hands works way better than popping a Tylenol. Because of the endorphins released, orgasms are natural painkillers that flood your brain with feel-good chemicals.

2020 wasn’t exactly the most uplifting time. The stress of world events combined with financial uncertainty and upheaved plans can sometimes feel like too much. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and anxious (or if your anxiety has graduated to a full-blown panic attack) there are useful breathing exercises to ease anxiety and panic attacks so you can stay grounded and positive.

Calming Breathing Exercises

Feeling dizzy, short of breath, or nauseous due to anxiety? Start by taking a long, slow breath in through the nose. Fill your lower lungs first, and then your upper lungs. Hold to a three-count and exhale very gradually through pursed lips, while relaxing facial and stomach muscles.

Read more: Let’s Reduce our Stress Levels. Learn to Breath like a Yogi

Abdomen Breathing Exercises

Your diaphragm is the muscle sitting directly below your lungs. If you breathe from this area, you can often reduce the effort needed to breathe. Lie down on the floor and place on hand on the rib cage with the other over the heart, trying to isolate breathe into the stomach rather than the chest. Big belly breaths involve a lot of body awareness, so you may want to practice these breathing exercises by pushing the breath out and watching the stomach rise while the chest stays still.

Alternate Nostril Breathing

Sit cross-legged and raise your left hand, resting index and middle finger in the space between your eyebrows. Keep eyes closed and breathe in and out slowly. On your next exhale, using your thumb, close one nostril and inhale through the other. Now, block the other nostril with your ring finger, and exhale through the opposite one. Repeat this switching pattern 10 times.

Jaw Release

This is actually a modified take on Lion’s Breath. Many of us carry tension in our jaw without realizing it, and can sometimes even grind teeth as a result of anxiety. Start sitting with the spine in neutral and taking a deep inhale through the nostrils. Fill up your diaphragm and when you’re at the max point of your inhale, exhale through the mouth, opening wide and stretching your jaw open as you loudly exhale like a lion.

4-7-8 Breathing

Many of us have heard of this exercise but don’t know the steps on how to implement it. First, empty the air from your lungs. Now, breathe in gently through your nose for 4 seconds. Hold this for 7 seconds. Now, exhale with force through pursed lips, exhaling with the sound of a “whoosh” for an 8 count. Repeat this until you feel calmer.

Breath Focus

This is like a visualization practice combined with breathing exercises, which are known to be very effective. In it, you envision a picture and a phrase or word that makes you feel more relaxed. As you think of your favorite word and place, close your eyes and take several deep breathes. As you inhale, visualize the air is filling you with peacefulness. On the exhale, imagine the air leaving your body is stress and negativity exiting you. Do this for 10 minutes.

Many of us have had to miss out on our usual spa appointments and massages because of COVID-19, leaving many of us with lots of stress and no way to relieve it. Whether you’re taking on extra hours at work or your mental health is taking a beating in this pandemic, we suggest making your own self-care kit at home. Here are the top essentials that you can’t miss.

A Guilty Pleasure Read

There’s a time to educate yourself, and it’s not now! This is the time to create a vacation within your inner mind. Find a book that you entirely enjoy – we’re not judging. Whether it’s a new YA novel, a juicy murder mystery, or a romance book, it should transport you to another world and let you escape from the daily chaos.

Your Favorite Beauty Essentials

Just because the spa is closed doesn’t mean you have to opt-out of spa days! Add candles, rose petals, and some tantalizing bath bombs to your bathroom and create a romantic night in with yourself. Drop some lavender essential oils into a bubble bath, and as the steam nourishes you, perhaps apply a face mask. Follow up with nourishing and hydrating body products.

Earplugs, an Eye Mask, and Your Bed

Turn off all electronics and lights. Calm the senses and meditate in a homemade sensory deprivation pod, focusing on your breathing. This will create a meditative environment that makes it easier to reduce the inner chatter of your mind, and the outside factors of stress and anxiety.

A Cup of Tea

Drinking a hot cup of tea is automatically comforting, but there’s something about the process of making the tea that’s mindful in itself. Pouring water into your cup, watching steam rise, and taking small sips are all acts of mindfulness that remind you to be in the present.

Cozy, Plush Fabrics

Dress in your coziest pajamas or sweats paired with fuzzy socks – a weighted blanket also does wonders. If you want to spend time in nature, dress for the weather and bring a snuggly blanket to wrap yourself in as you connect to the earth beneath you.

Positive Podcasts

Whether you decide to enact your self-care at home or outside, put in your headphones and play some positive podcasts. If hearing someone speak isn’t empowering to you, compile a calming playlist, and enjoy the tranquil music instead.

Notebook and Pen

Writing down your feelings and journaling your experience can be just as therapeutic as a therapy session, and a lot cheaper. We tend to stuff down our feelings, especially when work and responsibilities come up. Taking a moment to acknowledge your feelings, and getting that out on paper, can be truly cathartic. You can also write about your dreams.

Photos of Family, Friends, Pets, or Mementos

Looking at pictures of your loved ones, or even postcards of places that carry meaning can do wonders for your mental health! Take a trip down memory lane and celebrate the support systems in your life. Then, take a moment to think about what those people love about you – celebrating yourself is just as important.

Benefits of Self-Care

Utilizing everything in this DIY self-care kit will help you regain peace and balance in life. It will allow you the very necessary space and time you need to completely relax. It will help your mind, body, and soul reach harmony and reduce the stress and anxiety that’s been so rampant this year. Be calm, be present, and prioritize self-care!

It’s always a good idea on how to stay healthy during the holidays. But, that can be easier said than done thanks to the stress of the season. You have places to go, people to see, errands to run, and that often leaves little time for self-care.

This year is especially different in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. You might not be going to as many places or seeing as many people. But, the pandemic has caused a completely different type of stress. We’re dealing with uncertain times this winter, and more states are even starting to see a second wave of positive COVID cases.

So, it’s more important than ever to take care of yourself this winter. By making health and wellness a priority over everything else, you can manage your stress levels, feel better physically, and enjoy the holidays, no matter how different they may be.

Stay Safe During the Holidays

One of the most important things you can do this winter is to stay safe from illnesses. Remember, other common viruses like the flu are still out there! So, follow any safety restrictions put in place in your state or community, including:

Wearing a mask

Social distancing

Staying home whenever possible

Not going anywhere if you feel sick

But, remember that it’s just as essential to protect yourself from colds and the flu. You can do that by eating an immune-boosting diet full of fruits and vegetables. Doing so can “detox” your body and provide nourishing health benefits from the inside out to give you that holiday glow.

Perhaps the easiest thing you can do to stay healthy is simply to wash your hands as often as possible. Hand washing will always be more effective than just using sanitizer. But, if you have to go out in public, sanitizer is helpful in a pinch as long as you apply it correctly and let it dry without rubbing it off.

Stay Active

There are plenty of stereotypes about winter being a time of rest. It’s easy to imagine big bears in their caves, hibernating for weeks at a time. But, laying around and being lazy isn’t good for your body or your mind.

While it can be tempting to stay inside to watch your favorite holiday movies, you should also take some time each day for physical activity. One of the best things you can do is to spend some time outside. Being in nature can reduce stress levels, boost your energy, and actually help you to feel happier. Some outdoor winter activities that will get your blood pumping include:

Ice skating

Cross country skiing

Hiking

Snowshoeing

Sledding

Even shoveling snow, having a snowball fight with the kids, or building a snowman can offer up a great cardiovascular workout that will keep your body strong and healthy all season long.

If you do end up spending a lot of time outside this winter, take extra care of your skin and make sure you’re drinking enough water so it doesn’t dry out from the cold.

If you don’t want to go outside, you can still get moving indoors with online workout videos, or even doing chores around the house. You might be surprised at all the muscles needed to put up and decorate a Christmas tree!

Stay Centered

Again, this year has been a roller coaster of emotions for many people. So many are still living in uncertainty and fear. You may even be grieving the loss of a “normal” holiday with family and friends. Your stress levels might feel like they’re at an all-time high. This can lead to anxiety and even depression. Now, more than ever, it’s important to take care of your mental health as well as your physical health.

One of the best things you can do to reduce stress and the symptoms of anxiety is to practice mindfulness. Even if you only have a few minutes a day, stop and focus on nothing else but your breathing. Take a few deep breaths in and out, and remain in the present. As other thoughts start to come in, let them pass by like clouds, rather than hanging onto them. Mindfulness isn’t difficult and it can be done any time, and almost anywhere. Whenever you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a few minutes to be mindful.

You can also practice self-care and feel calmer by being grateful.

It might not seem like there’s much to be grateful for this year. But, if you think about it for a few minutes, you’re bound to come up with a list of things to be thankful for. Focusing on that and actively showing gratitude can improve your whole attitude and reduce your stress levels. Being grateful for the things you have is especially important around the holidays every year.

Yes, this holiday season will be a bit different. But, even when 2020 is over, it will always be important to take care of your health and wellness over the holidays. Keep these tips in mind now and for years to come to get through the season with health and happiness.

Many people report that microdosing mushrooms (psilocybin) have helped them with productivity and focus. But we think that those two things are both over-valued in our society. Instead, we want to explore the trend of psychedelic microdosing for self-esteem and positive mood boost (for the neurotypical and far beyond), integral to wellness and happiness. The perk of taking a minuscule amount is that you can gradually increase your comfort level, and there’s virtually no chance of having a “bad trip” that can be common with full doses. Here are some tips on microdosing shrooms for mood boost and self-confidence.

How do you Microdose Shrooms?

You start by consuming 1/10 of the usual recreational dose. This amount can be adjusted based on your tolerance, experience with substances, and overall sensitivity to the psilocybin. You won’t have a trip – this is known as a “sub hallucinogenic” experience, which will instead put you in touch with your senses

We suggest taking daily notes whenever you microdose – a sort of progress journal to see how this dosage affects your daily routine. Many people feel that their creativity spikes the day after microdosing, so it’s worth taking note.

That being said, don’t microdose daily – you’ll build up a tolerance, and it will lose its power.

science.howstuffworks.com

Know Your Shroom Anatomy

Generally, the stems seem to be less potent than the caps, containing the highest amount of active psychedelic ingredients. There are also different types of mushrooms, and it’s ideal if you know your strain so that you can research it and its potential effects.

Prepare Your Dosage

Start with 0.1g. You can eat your mushroom, but it’s easier to measure dosage if you grind it into a powder. Dissolve this powder in hot water and add honey if the taste is too strong. There now reliable companies offering infused shroom products– from mushroom tea to hot chocolate.

You can also place your pre-measured dosages into empty capsules.

When to Microdose

We suggest trying your psilocybin in the morning so that the effects have all day to last. When taken at night, they’re known to cause insomnia.

Some people microdose before a therapy session, finding that the substance allows them to be more honest and lets them access parts of their psyche that they couldn’t before.

Read more: Why Environment is So Important When Using Psychedelics

Benefits of Microdosing

Microdosing allows you to be yourself without social pretenses. It allows us to be ourselves, with more insight than ever before. Psychedelics essentially mimic serotonin, which makes us feel happy. It has the miraculous ability to generate new neurons and neural pathways while repairing neurological damage. There’s a gorgeous mosaic of compounds that work together to better your well being. Niacin (a flushing agent) transports GABA through the blood-brain barrier, distributing psilocybin molecules evenly.

Due to this innovative compound cocktail, psilocybin can be integrated into other therapies and is particularly effective in improving mental health and cognition. It also improves your overall consciousness and self-awareness, which we could all benefit from.

If the idea of a DIY microdose stresses you out, don’t fret – there are legitimate microdosing retreats that are guided by professionals and meticulously curated. We suggest Rise Wellness Retreat, a picturesque option in Jamaica, which includes classes, workshops, and of course, the perfect dose of psilocybin.

Is There a Downside to Microdosing?

Of course, the quality of the psychedelics will vary and have an impact on your experience. Some people who microdose (especially unregulated substances that can be unpredictable) can experience headaches, stomach problems, and sleeplessness.

You should also check your local laws, as you don’t want to get penalized harshly if it’s not legal in your area. Outside of these legal risks, there are little to no threats about trying psilocybin (it’s safer than alcohol) and introducing microdosing into your life.

Some people randomly indulge in mushrooms or LSD, but the setting is everything when using psychedelics for recreational doses. When micro-dosing, the effects are less noticeable and on a smaller scale, so setting may not be as vital. Let us have a look as to why the environment is so important when using psychedelics.

Three different things are interacting during the course of your psychedelic usage – the substance, your internal state of mind, and the external environment where you’re experiencing all that beauty.

A quiet camping trip with friends might be the ultimate introspective moment filled with clarity and positivity. But a loud and crowded music festival can lead to a never-ending panic of anxiety, stress, and what people refer to as a “bad trip.”

Importance of Environment When Using Psychedelics

The same exact drug can seem like the opposite of itself when used in the wrong environment. But why is that?

It’s because psychedelics encourage insight, which something like a nightclub or music festival might not. These substances make us incredibly sensitive to what’s going on internally and externally at the core of it.

This is referred to as “set and setting,” a concept established by Timothy Leary in the 1964 guidebook to psychedelics called “The Psychedelic Experience: A Manual Based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead.”

Setting is Key

This explores the entire relationship between those interior and exterior factors that ultimately determine your psychedelic adventure.

Outside of nature, most settings are socially constructed, which can shape the experience. Society’s attitude towards psychedelics will greatly alter that experience.

For that reason, nature is an all-time favorite of ours when it comes to tripping. You can choose to do it alone, with a partner, or with a group of people you trust.

Being around strangers doesn’t often bode well, since sometimes psychedelics can make you feel vulnerable and more prone to being judged. Hence, the music festival or clubbing nightmare.

But nature allows you to be at peace with yourself. It gives you the mental space and clarity to digest the trip, and if desired, with individuals that you feel entirely comfortable around.

In your trip, try to include:

A social support system

Safe and fast medical support (emotional support is equally important)

Familiar places and people

Things that induce comfort. Think spaces (nature, certain colors), foods, music, or belongings that mean something to you.

Ultimately, our state of mind and the world around us are our lenses through which we absorb reality, sober or not. So, of course, they would be prominent while tripping on psychedelics, which is basically a journey that our mind has constructed out of existing material and the visuals around us.

If you’re not comfortable in your setting, you’ll have an anxious state of mind. And with that mindset, the generally creativity-enhancing aspect of a substance could very quickly turn anxiety-inducing. These substances are shapeshifters, so just remember that context is everything. Listen to yourself, your desires, and your boundaries, and respect each one of them before you consume.

To help you stay on the right path to success, we’ve put together these top tips which will enable you to lead a healthy and more fulfilling lifestyle.

Drink More Water

https://www.canva.com/ – Canva Pro

Do you sometimes feel drained? Perhaps you’re not performing as well as you could be? Usually, this has a lot to do with the amount of water we drink and how hydrated our bodies are, which can often impact our physical performance. Many people adopt the 8×8 rule, eight, eight-ounce glasses of water every day to maintain healthy energy levels and optimize brain function, which is especially useful when working from home. Drinking plenty of water may also prevent headaches often occurring when staring at a computer screen for long periods.

Keeping hydrated is particularly important during the warmer months, or if you follow intense workouts. This is because our bodies attempt to cool down through sweating, which can sometimes cause dehydration, making it essential that we drink more water in the summer and exercise. Drinking water can also help us lose weight as it may kickstart our metabolism to work more efficiently. Dr. Philip Goglia, a nutritionist at Marvel Studios, suggests that ‘we should be drinking half an ounce to one ounce of water per pound of body weight every day.’

Move Your Body

https://www.canva.com/ – Canva Pro

Another way to live a more healthy lifestyle is to exercise as much as possible, and this can include going for a short walk every day to keep the body moving and take in some fresh air. For those who enjoy working out frequently, you can also join running clubs or attend fitness classes such as HIIT or yoga, as this is a great way to socialize while reaching your body goals at the same time.

If gym access is restricted, you can get creative at home with online classes and build your own sports space with multi-gym equipment and hand weights if need be, or grab the nearest tins of paint as an alternative way to make your workouts more challenging. The main aim is to stay motivated, even more so if you’re stuck at home, and it’s important to stretch regularly and keep your body moving.

Take Control of Your Finances

https://www.canva.com/ – Canva Pro

When it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle, this can also refer to your financial situation and taking control of your money. While money isn’t the most important, feeling financially free can help put you in a better state of mind. When there are more possibilities of socializing and doing the thing you enjoy doing, such as going on vacation with the family or investing in future assets.

If taking control of your finances is new to you, start small by re-evaluating your spending and saving habits. Many of us struggle to be frugal and often waste money on things that we don’t need. Try swapping out branded products for cheaper options and cut down on food waste or walk instead of taking public transport to cut back on spends. Having exact steps in place will help keep you on track, and you can use the extra money to pay off any debts or keep it for your travels or investment opportunities.

Where do you want to be in the next five to ten years? A question is often associated with financial income, which can lead to putting some long-term goals in place, like working on your investment portfolio. Investing your money for the future can be an excellent way to generate more income and support you for years to come. Investing in property, for example, is one of the most secure and lucrative investment strategies that you can make, according to RWinvest. If you’re looking for ways to get started, then there are multiple free guides and podcasts available online from property investment companies.

Relax Your Mind

https://www.canva.com/ – Canva Pro

Since isolation measures have been put in place, many of us may feel distant as we are separated from family and friends and our usual routine. Our mental wellbeing is just as important as working on our physical health and so checking in with ourselves and relaxing our mind regularly can help to lift spirits and keep a positive mental attitude.

Meditation is a great way to rejuvenate the mind and body and provides a healthy distraction from staring at our screens and mobile phones for too long. Taking just a few minutes a day can help to collect your thoughts and clear your mind of negativity, and a chance to rebalance and focus on your breathing and awareness will help to put you in a better headspace. Who doesn’t love to relax and unwind after a long day?

Have you seen Sex and the City, the movie? If not, I’m very sorry to spoil this for you, but do you know the part when Samantha breaks up with Smith and says that she needs to work on her relationship with herself? Establishing self- love: To be kind to yourself is one of the most powerful things you can do for positivity.

How often do we ever say that to ourselves? I’m by no means advocating ending relationships based on finding more time for loving ourselves. I’m just asking: how often do we love and cherish ourselves as we are? How kind are we to ourselves?

The answer is most likely – not nearly enough.

Let’s take a look at some of the things you can do to show yourself self- love and be kind to yourself, the person you indeed are, better.

Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

The only person you need to compare yourself to if you want to play the comparing game is the person you used to be. Yesterday, a year ago, a decade ago – as long as you’re becoming more and more the kind of person you want to be, you are doing a great job.

Comparing yourself to others is merely pointless. First, you don’t know their story, not really. You only know what they choose to share with you, and that’s most often just the best bits. And second of all, they are not you. They are entirely different, and you can never be them, which means that you get to be you – the best possible person in the world.

Stop Worrying About What Others Think

While we are on the subject of comparisons and judgment – you should also aim to stop caring about what other people think about you. You can never actually influence that. People will have their beliefs and values, and they will believe what they want to find. Rare are those whose opinions and deeply rooted ideas can be changed through a conversation or a series of actions.

The only person who needs to approve of you and your actions is, you’ve guessed it – you. You are living your life for yourself, and you can do whatever you want with it (as long as you’re not harming someone else!). No one else will live your life, and you are not living your life so someone can approve of it. You do you, babe, and stick to your dreams.

Reconsider the Way You Treat Your Body

And I am not for one second talking about your weight if that’s what you were thinking.

I’m talking about the other things you’re doing to your body: are you making sure it gets plenty of rest, and that it receives the recovery time it needs from lugging you around all day? Are you giving it enough water, the nutrients it needs, and making sure your skin and hair are getting the nourishment they need? This is what self- love is about and to be kind to yourself.

Think about the way you sleep, as not sleeping enough is the gateway to a bad mood and poor mental and physical health. Think about the products you’re putting into your body and whether they’re giving it what it needs to grow and prosper. If you identify any room for change and improvement, seize it. After all, your body is yours for life, and the better you treat it, the more it will allow you to do.

Don’t Worry About the Future and Dwell on the Past

The funny thing about life is that we only ever get to experience it in the present, and yet we spend so much time living in the past (which can’t be changed) or trying to imagine the future (which we can never predict and never truly control).

Learning how to live in the present is an incredible gift and a habit you can learn to nurture, and one that will help you live a more fulfilled and enjoyable life. If you manage to stop obsessing about things that have happened and those that have yet to happen, you will realize there’s a whole lot of life right here and now.

Be Mindful of Your Language

Finally, think about the way you talk to yourself. Is there a whole lot of negativity or self- love there? Do you call yourself all kinds of names? Do you nitpick at every tiny little thing that is not perfect about you?

The thing is, we would never speak as negatively to anyone else – we only do it to ourselves.

And we are no different from all those other people when you come to think about it. We are all prone to mistakes, none of us are perfect, and we all deserve to be treated with kindness and a whole lot of love.

So next time you start talking to yourself negatively, check yourself, and change your language. You’ll notice it makes quite a difference.

To Sum It Up

Being kind and showing self-love to yourself is a habit you might have to work on – but it’s never too late or early to start. So try some of these tips out, and see how your life changes for the better.
