Life knows how to make things complicated for us. It throws us various challenges, and sometimes, there’s nothing we can do to overcome them. Fortunately, however, there are still many things we can control when it comes to a happier and healthier life.

We can change our habits, improve our sleep, carefully consider what we eat, be physically active, and so on. In return, our efforts will be rewarded with happiness and a healthy lifestyle.

Here are some things you can do in this rewarding process of self-improvement.

Sleep More and Sleep Better for a Healthier Life

The National Sleep Foundation recommends seven to nine hours of sleep for a healthy adult. The general recommendations should only be observed as guidelines. Depending on your specific needs, your body can require more time to consolidate memories and get the needed rest.

Keep in mind that it’s not just quantity but also the quality of sleep that counts. If you are constantly waking up during the night and if you sleep in an uncomfortable position, getting the full nine hours of sleep won’t help you feel rested. The essential factor for getting quality sleep is finding a supportive mattress that suits your sleeping habits and positions.

Change Your Diet

Poor diet choices are causing many health issues, but they can also affect your mood. The irony is that what we call ‘comfort food’ can actually make us more aggravated and sad.

In the long run, it would be better for your health and wellbeing to avoid (as much as you can) deep-fried and processed meals and turn to healthier alternatives. A balanced diet entails a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. Complement it with whole grains and wholesome sources of protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Some of the things to eat more frequently are leafy greens, nuts, salmon, kale, lentils, and grilled chicken.

Be Active for a Healthier Life

According to the CDC, physical activity can have many benefits both for your mental and physical health. Some of them can be immediate, while others come over time. For example, you will feel less anxious and your cognitive abilities will improve after a moderate or vigorous workout. If you exercise on a regular basis, the risk of depression and anxiety will decrease, you will sleep better, and you will be happier.

As for the physical aspect, exercising will help you maintain a healthy weight (or lose weight), decrease the risk of heart disease, strengthen your bones and muscles, and boost your immune system.

Keep Stress Under Control

Other than exercising, other things can help you keep stress under control. For example:

Deep breathing techniques can help you calm down in a stressful situation and deal with any future stressors.

When faced with stress, your muscles become tense, so you can also try relaxing them by stretching or taking a hot shower.

Practicing yoga can help you adopt a more mindful approach and patiently deal with stressors.

When you feel overwhelmed, share your problems and thoughts with someone. That can be a friend, a family member, or a therapist.

Socialize

We often sacrifice our social life due to work and household responsibilities. While being alone is good for you sometimes, being lonely never is. Humans are social beings by their nature, and even the most introverted among us require social contact.

Face-to-face contact is essential for good health, as it releases neurotransmitters that help you battle stress and anxiety. It also boosts your brain health and can make you very happy.

However, this doesn’t mean that you have to be social at all costs. It’s normal that you don’t enjoy being in some people’s company. Naturally, you’ll want to avoid the people that stress you out or simply make you feel uneasy. Find time to spend with the people you love and feel pleasant being around.

Be Kind to Yourself

Finally, find some time for yourself. Doing the things you love is not a luxury. It is a necessity.

You can spend that time as you wish – by reading a book, binge-watching a TV show, dancing, practicing a hobby. This can be replenishing and invigorating. Don’t make compromises when it comes to nourishing both your mind and body. Being kind to yourself also means forgiving yourself for the mistakes – small and big ones.

In Closing for a Happier and Healthier Life

We only spend a certain amount of time on this planet, so why wouldn’t we use it in the best way possible? Why wouldn’t we be healthy and happy while we’re here?
These tips will help you live a full life and face all the challenges ahead – and there will be a lot of them. Remember, cultivating good habits is not enough; you also need to get rid of the bad ones – so take it one step at a time.

If you have a hearing problem, having a hearing test can be a great way to determine the current health of your ears. While a hearing test is often a straightforward process, many are concerned about what to expect.

The process is painless and non-invasive and lasts no more than an hour, so there’s nothing to be worried about. If you’ve been booked in for a hearing test, here’s what to expect to help make the process less daunting:

Lifestyle And Health Details

Your journey starts with providing as many details as possible about your medical history and lifestyle. The information you provide helps your audiologist determine what might be causing your hearing loss.

Medical conditions such as ear infections, allergies, and head colds often contribute to hearing loss. The health practitioner may also ask about any drugs you might be taking as some medications may also cause hearing loss as side effects. They may also want to know whether you work in a loud environment and the types of social situations and hobbies important to you.

Finally, your audiologist might want to discuss your symptoms and how they affect your daily life. Any information you provide about pre-existing health issues, any medication you’ve been taking, and your lifestyle could prove valuable.

A Visual Examination

After reviewing the information you’ve provided, your audiologist will then perform a physical examination of your ears. This helps confirm any obstructions in your ears that might be causing your hearing problems. For instance, blockages caused by excess earwax can cause symptoms similar to hearing damage.

Your audiologist might insert a tiny camera into your ear to examine the health of your eardrums and ear canals and ensure that sound has a clear pathway. This part of the test is typically shorter and shouldn’t take more than ten minutes.

Tone And Pitch Test

This part of the hearing test typically entails testing how you hear tones and pitches. The test occurs in a soundproof room. The soundproof room helps eliminate background noises that could make you not hear quiet sounds.

During the tone test, you will be asked to wear headphones and listen to some tones played at different pitches and volumes. The tones are played into one ear at a time to help determine whether your right or left ear has hearing loss.

You’re asked to press a button or raise your hand to show when you hear a sound. How you respond to each tone shows whether you can hear soft or loud sounds and low-pitched or high-pitched sounds.

Speech Recognition Test

After the tone and pitch test, your audiologist conducts a speech recognition test. While still in the soundproof room, you will listen to a live speech at different volumes through the headphones. The speech is played quietly into one ear at a time. You’ll be required to repeat the words you hear to check how good your hearing is in daily situations.

Hearing Test Results and Treatment Options

The results of a hearing test are almost instant. Your audiologist will record everything that happens during the test and present you with the results right away. From the results, you will know the problem with your hearing and the extent of your hearing loss.

The audiologist will then compare the test results with your symptoms to ensure their data matches your experiences. Then, they will discuss the different treatment options available to you. These can be prescribed hearing aids to improve your hearing or other treatments like surgery and cochlear implants.

The health practitioner will tell you about the different hearing aids on offer and which ones might suit you best. While your audiologist may make recommendations, you’re the one to decide what option fits best for your life. Before making the final decision, be sure to consider factors such as your work, family, and social life to ensure the option you choose suits all aspects of your life.

Online Hearing Tests

Apart from in-person tests, there is a wide range of hearing tests available online that you can take from the comfort of your home. An online hearing test may help determine whether you should go in for thorough in-person testing.

During your online hearing test, you will be asked to listen to several tones at different pitches and volumes to see how well your hearing is at different frequency levels. Next, your audiologist will want to know how well you can hear in challenging listening situations.

Once you complete the test, you will be presented with your result and told about the different treatment options available to you. Based on your test results, your audiologist may book you in for follow-up appointments and a thorough diagnostic hearing assessment to establish the extent of your hearing loss.

Follow-Up Appointments

Hopefully, this information provides more clarity on what you should expect during your upcoming hearing test appointment. If you’ve been experiencing any symptoms of hearing loss, it’s always best to book a hearing test soonest possible.

The follow-up appointments will mainly include hearing aid fitting and evaluations to help you choose a hearing aid that best suits you and your lifestyle.

It’s always a good idea on how to stay healthy during the holidays. But, that can be easier said than done thanks to the stress of the season. You have places to go, people to see, errands to run, and that often leaves little time for self-care.

This year is especially different in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. You might not be going to as many places or seeing as many people. But, the pandemic has caused a completely different type of stress. We’re dealing with uncertain times this winter, and more states are even starting to see a second wave of positive COVID cases.

So, it’s more important than ever to take care of yourself this winter. By making health and wellness a priority over everything else, you can manage your stress levels, feel better physically, and enjoy the holidays, no matter how different they may be.

Stay Safe During the Holidays

One of the most important things you can do this winter is to stay safe from illnesses. Remember, other common viruses like the flu are still out there! So, follow any safety restrictions put in place in your state or community, including:

Wearing a mask

Social distancing

Staying home whenever possible

Not going anywhere if you feel sick

But, remember that it’s just as essential to protect yourself from colds and the flu. You can do that by eating an immune-boosting diet full of fruits and vegetables. Doing so can “detox” your body and provide nourishing health benefits from the inside out to give you that holiday glow.

Perhaps the easiest thing you can do to stay healthy is simply to wash your hands as often as possible. Hand washing will always be more effective than just using sanitizer. But, if you have to go out in public, sanitizer is helpful in a pinch as long as you apply it correctly and let it dry without rubbing it off.

Stay Active

There are plenty of stereotypes about winter being a time of rest. It’s easy to imagine big bears in their caves, hibernating for weeks at a time. But, laying around and being lazy isn’t good for your body or your mind.

While it can be tempting to stay inside to watch your favorite holiday movies, you should also take some time each day for physical activity. One of the best things you can do is to spend some time outside. Being in nature can reduce stress levels, boost your energy, and actually help you to feel happier. Some outdoor winter activities that will get your blood pumping include:

Ice skating

Cross country skiing

Hiking

Snowshoeing

Sledding

Even shoveling snow, having a snowball fight with the kids, or building a snowman can offer up a great cardiovascular workout that will keep your body strong and healthy all season long.

If you do end up spending a lot of time outside this winter, take extra care of your skin and make sure you’re drinking enough water so it doesn’t dry out from the cold.

If you don’t want to go outside, you can still get moving indoors with online workout videos, or even doing chores around the house. You might be surprised at all the muscles needed to put up and decorate a Christmas tree!

Stay Centered

Again, this year has been a roller coaster of emotions for many people. So many are still living in uncertainty and fear. You may even be grieving the loss of a “normal” holiday with family and friends. Your stress levels might feel like they’re at an all-time high. This can lead to anxiety and even depression. Now, more than ever, it’s important to take care of your mental health as well as your physical health.

One of the best things you can do to reduce stress and the symptoms of anxiety is to practice mindfulness. Even if you only have a few minutes a day, stop and focus on nothing else but your breathing. Take a few deep breaths in and out, and remain in the present. As other thoughts start to come in, let them pass by like clouds, rather than hanging onto them. Mindfulness isn’t difficult and it can be done any time, and almost anywhere. Whenever you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a few minutes to be mindful.

You can also practice self-care and feel calmer by being grateful.

It might not seem like there’s much to be grateful for this year. But, if you think about it for a few minutes, you’re bound to come up with a list of things to be thankful for. Focusing on that and actively showing gratitude can improve your whole attitude and reduce your stress levels. Being grateful for the things you have is especially important around the holidays every year.

Yes, this holiday season will be a bit different. But, even when 2020 is over, it will always be important to take care of your health and wellness over the holidays. Keep these tips in mind now and for years to come to get through the season with health and happiness.

This year has shown us that things can get unpredictable and cause chaos regardless of country, class, or language. People all over the globe have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and even though we still don’t know the final impact on our health and wellbeing, it’s safe to say that things will never be the same.

However, if there is one thing that we should all learn from this, is the importance of personal health and wellbeing. Because, only when we’re strong and healthy, we’re able to face all the uncertainty and everything that comes out of it.

Therefore, if there is anything you’d wish to take from this year, it’s the fact that caring for your health should be your priority. So, here are the top 6 tips for good health and wellbeing in 2021 that will motivate you further.

Investing in Your Health and Wellbeing Is Investing in Yourself

Once you decide to take better care of your health, you’ll realize that you’re actually investing in yourself and your future. Unfortunately, many people start to realize that only when they’re sick, and then, it’s often too late. To avoid such things, make sure to get regular health checkups from your doctor, at least once a year. That will provide you with enough time to treat any eventual problem.

Nurturing Your Mental Health Is Also an Important

In the past few months, many people experienced anxiety, depression, and trauma, due to changes related to the pandemic. So, investing in your mental health is a great gift that you could give to yourself. If you learn to be grounded and assess your situation without panic and fear, you’ll feel much better with future events.

Similarly, if this year has drained you, talking to a mental health professional can alleviate your issues and help you get back on track. If you’re looking to adopt some positive habits that can be healing to your mind, feel free to try meditation, yoga, journaling, or spending time in nature.

Learning Can Be of Great Help

Modern life can be unpredictable and sometimes downright chaotic, and 2020 has certainly made that point very clear. Therefore, having some emergency skills can be of great aid both for your career prospects and those close to you. If you’re a parent or work in childcare, you’ll feel more assured if you know how to provide CPR and deal with other life-threatening emergencies. Plus, when you learn how PALS drug algorithms work and how to implement them, you’ll have a real, actionable skillset. Knowing how to save a life and preserve health is incredibly important and surely a great investment toward a better future.

Positive Acts Will Keep You Grounded

Living through these turbulent times can be anxiety-inducing, that’s for sure. But, if you dedicate some time trying to make yourself grow, you’ll learn that doing positive things can also affect your health and wellbeing in a good way. Exercising, eating healthily, taking your meds and supplements are all good things that actually serve you and your well-being.

If you’ve been laid off from work, and you haven’t decided to look for another one yet, then use that time to take care of yourself and invest in your own future. You’ll feel better knowing that, there are some things, that are always under control.

Remember That Rest Is Okay To

For some cultures, rest is seen as a shameful sign of laziness, while in others, it’s considered as a universal human right. So if you’ve been spending a lot of hours at work, this year could teach you the importance of relaxation. You deserve to take a break and do something enjoyable that isn’t related to your place of work. Reading, watching movies, running, cooking, or just taking a nap are all joyful activities that promote your health so feel free to do them regularly.

You Will Acquire a Sense of Purpose

Sometimes, we all come to the point in life when we feel a little aimless, and if you feel like that right now, no one blames you. But, once you decide to start investing in your well-being, you’ll see that it will also give you a sense of purpose. You’ll be given a mission of sorts, because, being able to take care of yourself, will also make you a stronger, and thus, more helpful member of your community. And being able to serve your community is a huge advantage in this tumultuous period.

Conclusion

These steps are important if you want to get your life in order and enter the year 2021 feeling stronger and more empowered. Additionally, remembering to stay grounded and grateful will be of great use, as you’ll be able to face reality, and subsequently, help yourself and those around you.

Stress, anxiety, and depression are three of the most common psychological conditions people suffer from. As an individual, you might experience stress or anxiousness because of your work, family responsibilities, speaking in public, or even socializing. Furthermore, 2020 has given rise to multiple illnesses, with the coronavirus playing a significant role. There are numerous occasions where you might require medication – natural or herbal remedies to alleviate anxiety and stress. Here are the 9 best healing herbs for stress and anxiety.

Ginger

Ginger has been a part of ancient traditional practices in Asia and several other parts of this region. Back in the day, people used to consume this aromatic herb to alleviate anxiety and make the most of its potency. Ginger accommodates an antioxidant – gingerol, which helps to neutralize your body’s harmful chemicals while you are stressed. Stress and anxiety lead to symptoms that can result in an upset stomach since it produces many vital acids for digestion. Ginger tends to rescue the production of stomach acid.

Chamomile

Chamomile has been popular in Ancient Roman and Greek traditions. They used to consume chamomile for its calming and soothing properties. Several phenolics present in the herb like quinones, phenolic acids, flavonoids, and other compounds can help reduce anxiety and stress. If you want to enjoy a sip of chamomile tea, mix a couple of teaspoons of chamomile flowers (dry) in two cups of hot water. Let it get absorbed and infused for two to three minutes. After that, strain and add a bit of honey to provide a sweet note to the tea.

Cannabis

In the modern age, people are more familiar with cannabis as an alternative medication. The natural supplement gets extracted from cannabis plants and is used for recreational and medicinal purposes. This psychoactive supplement has several naturally-occurring compounds that bind to the receptors or your brain and alleviate anxiety, depression, and stress.

Cannabis interacts with your body’s ECS, which is responsible for bodily processes. In several parts of the globe, people have started incorporating cannabis use amid their services. The hospitality sector is one of the sectors that have come out with cannabis-infused services, menus, massage, and many more. A cannabis dispensary has several cannabis-infused products that you can choose from. Apart from a cannabis dispensary, you can also look for restaurants and spas for cannabis-infused services.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is a herbal supplement that can alleviate emotional and physical stress. It helps to lessen the stress hormone by lowering cortisol levels. In such a process, the stress hormones can cause your body’s neurotransmitters to become unbalanced. This leads to anxiety, insomnia, and depression. To make Ashwagandha tea, mix half a teaspoon of ashwagandha powder in the glass of hot milk. You can either take it right before your breakfast or can leave it for your evening hours.

St. John’s Wort

St. John’s wort’s chemical name is Hypericum perforatum, which has been quite popular in ancient times. Earlier, people consumed the herb for its medicinal properties. One of the systematic reviews of 2016 found out that this herbal supplement is more impactful than a placebo to treat mild and moderate stress and depression. A cannabis dispensary might not have this supplement, so look for other online and offline stores to buy St. John’s Wort. However, before incorporating the supplement into your lifestyle or visiting a cannabis dispensary, have a word with your doctor.

Ginseng

Ginseng originated from the gnarled roots of Asian or American ginseng plants. It is essential to know that Asian, Siberian, and Eleuthero ginseng are various plants with several active ingredients. Chinese medicine practitioners have consumed and used this herb for thousands of years. That is because it can help in improving your energy levels and mental clarity. This, in turn, alleviates anxiety and stress. You can check this herbal supplement on any online and offline store near you.

Lavender

Lavender is also one of the herbs that people have consumed for centuries to remedy nervousness, stress, depression, and anxiety. The most common way of administering lavender is in the shape of lavender oil. A regular massage with lavender oil helps reduce stress and anxiety and gives way to positivity. One of the studies also shows that lavender effectively ameliorates stress and anxiety by affecting an individual’s nervous system.

Its sedative effects can also lead to a significant change in mood, associated with anxiousness and nervousness. You can also store the oil for treatment in the future.

Valerian

Valeriana officinalis or valerian is a herbal plant native to Asia and Europe. For several centuries, native people have consumed valerian root to treat anxiety, sleep problems, and depression. Valerian root can be consumed in several forms like tablets, tea, and tinctures. If you suffer from stress, anxiety, and depression, take around 120 to 200mg of this herb thrice. Make sure that you consume the last dosage of this herb just before bedtime.

Passionflower

Passiflora or passionflower is a herb with over five hundred species. Many experts suggest that passionflower is effective and impactful in treating nervousness, restlessness, and anxiety. According to one of the reviews conducted in 2010, some evidence suggests that passionflower’s antianxiety properties can be compared to benzodiazepines’. It is a class drug that experts and doctors recommend for treating anxiety. You can consume the herb either in the form of tablets or through a liquid tincture.

Final Thoughts

In times of coronavirus, staying healthy and in shape are two of the vital things you need to take care of. Since your health is of utmost importance, make sure you buy such herbs for stress and anxiety. Also, know that people across the globe have started consuming herbal and natural supplements. These nine herbal supplements help you treat anxiety, depression, nervousness, and stress, but they also provide soothing and positive effects.

If these last months have taught us anything at all, it is that there is nothing more precious or more fragile than our health and of those we love. But sometimes it can be challenging to know exactly what steps to take to protect our wellbeing.

Alternative medicine has saved untold numbers of lives across the decades. It continues to be our most excellent defense against some of humanity’s most devastating illnesses and catastrophic injuries. And yet, it is by no means the be-all-and-end-all of human health.

For millennia, human beings have found both comfort and healing in alternative medicine and continuing to have an essential place in our modern world. And though modern medicine had dominated patient care for well more than a century in the West, patients are increasingly returning to alternative remedies. Now, more than ever, they are recognizing the benefits of finding the balance between alternative and traditional medicine to achieve optimal health and wellness.

A Healthy “Alternative” Medicine?

Alternative medicine reflects a different option from more “modern” standards and practices of care based on pharmaceutical treatments and technology-based care.

In other words, alternative medicine is considered to be outside of the mainstream of Western medicine, which is, perhaps ironically, often termed traditional.

Traditional Western medicine centers on the prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of disease or injury. It takes a more myopic view of health, an idea that, principally, defines health as the absence of some pathology, some significant deviation from the norm.

Alternative medicine, on the other hand, is not disease-focused in the way Western medicine is. Many forms of alternative medicine emphasize the whole person, focusing not on the illness or disease, but the individual. The emphasis is on restoring the patient to a state of balance. It envisions health as the wellbeing of the whole person, mind, body, and spirit.

Holistic Medicine

Holistic medicine, as an amalgamation of the two, supports the more disease-focused and interventionist strategies of traditional medicine with alternative therapies, such as herbal remedies, meditation, and yoga. The ultimate goal is to enhance the efficacy of conventional treatment while mitigating its potentially negative impacts. Simultaneously, the goal is to use alternative medicine as a preventative tool. A method of maintaining wellness to the greatest extent possible, to reduce the frequency and severity of traditional medical interventions.

Consider COVID-19. A holistic approach would combine a traditional treatment plan, such as antiviral medications, with alternative medicines designed to boost the immune system. For example, through the use of plants, herbs, natural supplements, tinctures and teas, and other natural approaches.

Why It Matters

Traditional Western medicine has, without question, dramatically improved the quality and length of life for human beings the world over. Nevertheless, for all its indisputable benefits, it has also brought about significant harm as well.

According to a recent study from Johns Hopkins, an estimated 250,000 people die in the United States every year due to preventable medical errors. Between 1990 and 2016, more than 100,000 Americans are believed to have died. Not as the result of medical errors, but only due to “adverse” events caused by treatment. This includes hospital-acquired infections and complications related to cancer care.

For seniors, the potential harms can be especially significant. Poor medication management, for instance, can lead to dangerous side effects, heightened risk of accidental overdose, and the potential for life-threatening drug interactions.

But it’s not only the health risks associated with conventional Western medicine that hurts patients and their families. It’s also massive amounts of medical debt incurred from even the most routine treatments. More than 79 million Americans are carrying significant medical debt, many facing sums so large that debt forgiveness is the only option for avoiding bankruptcy.

A holistic approach seeks to mitigate these harms while maximizing the benefits of traditional medicine. For example, the emerging field of holistic nursing aims to combine conventional Western therapeutics. The strategy of care includes nutrition, exercise, and spirituality to improve patient health and, above all, to enhance their overall quality of life.

How Alternative Medicine Works

Alternative medicine seeks to maintain or restore wellness without subjecting the patient to the substantial physical risks and financial burdens of conventional Western medicine.

One of the most important strategies used in alternative medicine involves a combined protocol of stress management, diet, and nutrition supplements. Also, including zinc, echinacea, and vitamins C and D, to boost the immune system.

Not only will this increase the body’s resistance to viruses and bacteria, but a robust immune system can also help the body fend off more fearsome illnesses, such as cancer. If you are undergoing conventional cancer treatments, increasing your immune function can also help you to withstand the side effects of your treatment better.

Alternative medicine can also be a powerful tool in fighting one of humanity’s most significant health challenges: chronic pain. In 2016, it was estimated that as many as 20% of people in the US were contending with chronic pain. And this has been a significant factor in contributing to the opioid epidemic that has ravaged our nation in recent years.

Holistic medicine, which refers to the integration of traditional and alternative medicine, can be highly effective in treating chronic pain. Once again, alternative therapies use a person-focused approach to pain management. This combines gentle exercise, herbal remedies, and alternative therapies, such as heat, acupuncture, massage, and chiropractic. Simultaneously, a more traditional approach, such as steroidal medications or surgical interventions, can be used to target the disease or injury, causing the pain.

The holistic approach to pain management is based on the premise that pain is not only the result of injury or illness, but is exacerbated by psychological, emotional, and even social factors. These can range from stress and anxiety to the foods we eat, the quality of our sleep, and how we work, live, and move through the world.

The Takeaway

Conventional Western medicine has changed our world for the better in many ways. But it has also brought about significant harms. And now, more than ever, the use of alternative medicine is proving its enormous value in helping patients achieve whole-person wellness, health, and healing in the heart, soul, body, and brain.

In the past few months, we’ve put more emphasis on self-care and boosting our immune systems than ever before, and justifiably so. However, with or without a pandemic, it’s vital to understand the importance of gut health for your overall wellbeing. How your body works, and what you can do to ensure that you’re resilient enough for your body to ward off pathogens such as viruses and bacteria naturally. Did you know that there’s a swarm of bacteria residing happily in your gut, serving as one of your main pillars of overall health?

The gut microbiome, as we continue to discover, plays multiple roles in protecting your gut health. The healthier your gut is, the higher your chances are of ensuring your wellbeing for the long haul. Let’s break down a few key roles your gut plays in your health, and what you can do to make sure your stomach is healthy.

The Moody Blues Comes from Gut Health

We know that the moody blues comes from gut health, too much stress and traumatic events can all be the cause of anxiety and depression, as well as other mental health issues. Research has shown that imbalances in your gut microbiome can lead to an increased risk of depression because your gut communicates with your brain.

Although you would certainly need to address your mental health issues from several different angles, restoring your gut health can be a great start. Plus, it can help keep the rest of your bodily functions in check, prevent digestive tract issues, and allow for your body to heal.

Menopause Handled through Your Gut

Every chapter of your life comes with its challenges. When you enter menopause, you’ll find that some of the most common symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, headaches, and unwanted weight gain can be traced back to hormonal imbalances. This is caused by sudden changes in your estrogen levels. Your microbiome not only participates in retaining your hormonal balance, but it also allows you to make the most of the foods you consume. It can also help or halt weight loss and proper weight management.

That is why so many high-quality menopause supplements consist of probiotics that focus on restoring your gut health. By balancing your microbiome, you can help reduce various menopause symptoms and ensure that you don’t gain unwanted weight.

The Epicenter of Your Immune System

The epicenter of your immune system is made up of an entire network of organs, cells, and antibodies. Your network of organs all of which have one common goal: to keep your health intact when intruders come along. Be it a viral or bacterial infection, or something entirely else, your immune system serves to produce a reaction to defeat the unwanted visitors quickly and efficiently.

In addition to your lymphatic system, thyroid and other glands, bone marrow, spleen, and other parts of your immune system, your gut plays a crucial role in protecting your health, too. When the bacteria in your microbiome do their job correctly, your intestines can absorb all the right nutrients from the foods you consume. Allowing your body to use the vitamins and minerals to keep your body resistant to illnesses.

Weight Gain

Have you had trouble shedding those pesky pounds off your waist and thighs? If you’ve done your best to control your food intake, choose your macronutrients carefully, and get active, your gut health might be to blame. Several different scientific studies have dealt with the connection between gut bacteria and obesity, and there seems to be a link.

According to those studies, if your gut is home to a specific kind of bacteria that inhibits weight loss, this could make your journey a bit more difficult overall. Of course, you can’t blame bacteria for weight gain. If you’re not true to your diet plan, to begin with, your microbiome could stall the process depending on the kind of bacteria that live in your gut.

The Microbiome and Your Hormones

No matter your lifestyle or your career choices, you know that stress is a regular part of the modern lifestyle, and you most likely have your stress-relieving strategies to make sure you don’t burn out or get too exhausted. However, your hormones might tell a different story when you’re always under tons of stress. Your cortisol levels might soar, and your gut will reflect that change in your hormones, too.

Even the vice versa relationship works. Not eating the right food causes the gut microbiome not to be balanced. Causing your hormones to reflect that imbalance to lead to further stress on your overall health. Then again, PMS-related issues can be linked to your gut, so perhaps you can help soothe your monthly concerns by handling your digestive tract with more care.

As you can see, you can trust your gut feeling. If you find yourself struggling with your weight, bloating, painful cramps, or digestion issues, you might need to rethink your diet and stress management to heal your gut. Consequently, you’ll be able to nurture your wellbeing and create a perfect foundation for your long-lasting gut health and resilience.
